At Amber Community, we believe that every individual has the power to make a positive impact, especially when it comes to road safety. Our dedicated team of volunteers is proof that ordinary people can do extraordinary things to create safer roads and support those affected by road trauma.
Volunteering with Amber Community is not just about giving your time; it’s about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others and contributing to a safer community.
We explore the incredible role that volunteers play in our organisation, the various opportunities available, and the inspiring stories of those who have joined us in our mission.
The heart of Amber Community
Our volunteers are the heart of Amber Community. Many of them have personal experiences with road trauma, and they bring a unique perspective to our work. They understand the profound impact that road incidents may have on individuals and families, and they are passionate about making a change.
Opportunities to volunteer
When you join our volunteer community, you’ll discover a range of opportunities to contribute:
Sharing your lived experience: Your personal story is a powerful tool to inspire others to make safer choices on the roads. By sharing your journey, you can create awareness and motivate individuals to drive responsibly.
Raising awareness and advocating: Support road safety initiatives by raising awareness and advocating for safer road behaviours. Your voice can influence positive change in attitudes and behaviours on the road.
Skilled volunteering: Your professional expertise, vocation, passion or skill can help support day-to-day functions or special events at Amber Community. Contribute your talents in a meaningful way to make a positive impact.
Fundraising: Help us fundraise to support the vital work of caring for those impacted by road trauma and delivering education programs that address behaviours and attitudes on the road. Your fundraising efforts can make a significant impact on our programs.
A welcoming and supportive community
When you become a part of our volunteer community, you’ll find a welcoming and supportive environment. We offer ongoing training, regular catchups, and support every step of the way. You won’t be alone in your journey to make a difference.
Inspiring road safety conversations
Sharing your own story becomes the ‘why’ behind promoting road safety and reducing the impacts of road trauma. Personal narratives have the incredible power to raise awareness and motivate individuals to drive safely.
At Amber Community, we are fortunate to have more than 140 dedicated volunteers who generously support our organisation, with many sharing their road trauma experiences. They are passionate about highlighting the impact and ripple effect of road trauma.
Inspire safe choices with your story
Our lived experience volunteers can speak at our educational programs, community gatherings, schools, workplaces, and in the media. Your story may be a lifesaving inspiration.
One of our volunteers shared their experience:
“Lifesaving for sure. It has improved my sense of self-worth after our family’s tragic event. It helped me rebuild and re-energised my life to give it meaning and purpose. It has given me opportunities to connect and develop meaningful relationships with like-minded people.”
