What to expect at the Shine a Light on Road Safety Walk & Wheel 2026
Amber Community invites you to join us for the 2026 Shine a Light on Road Safety Walk & Wheel at Albert Park Lake for a meaningful and family-friendly day focused on connection, remembrance, and road safety awareness.
This annual event brings together people impacted by road trauma, road safety supporters, families, community members, and industry partners to shine a light on safer roads and support those affected.
Whether you choose to walk, wheel, relax with a coffee, enjoy the entertainment, or simply connect with others, we would love to see you there.
Event details
Date: Sunday 24 May 2026
Location: Palms Lawn, Albert Park Lake
Welcome desk opens: 10:00am
Speeches: Approximately 11:15am
Walk & Wheel begins: Shortly after
Participants can choose to walk or wheel around the lake, while others may prefer to stay at the event hub and enjoy the atmosphere and activities on offer throughout the day. Register now

Hear from our Ambassador James Thompson
We are proud to welcome James Thompson as part of this year’s event proceedings. James will speak on the day about the importance of road safety awareness and supporting those impacted by road trauma. You can read more about James and his involvement with the campaign.
Family-friendly activities and kids corner
This year’s event will include activities for families and children to enjoy throughout the morning.
Our Kids Corner will feature:
- Face painting and arm painting for kids of all ages
- Colouring table
- Live music
Free coffee, hot drinks and pastries
Thanks to the support of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), guests can enjoy a complimentary hot beverage and pastry from Big Shot Coffee Van, while stocks last. It’s the perfect way to start the morning before the Walk & Wheel begins.

The TAC will also be onsite with a road safety information cart during the event.
Visitors can:
- Learn about road safety initiatives
- Pick up free yellow ribbons in support of National Road Safety Week
Delicious food trucks at the event
There will be plenty of delicious food available throughout the day from our fantastic food vendors.
Greek on the street
Greek on the Street Food Truck will serve a breakfast wrap from 9.30am, along with a range of vegetarian and vegan meals available throughout the day.
Rosie’s chicken
Serving delicious chicken and sides throughout the day.
Whether you’re after breakfast, coffee, or lunch after the walk, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Raffle prizes and merchandise
Be sure to visit the raffle desk during the event for your chance to win some fantastic prizes generously donated by our supporters and community partners. There are plenty of great prizes up for grabs, including shopping vouchers, experience vouchers, pamper packs, perfume, family passes, and more.
