Every dollar counts: A fundraising wrap-up for Shine a Light on Road Safety 2025

We are proud to share that this year’s Shine a Light on Road Safety 2025 campaign raised an incredible $107,060 in support of people impacted by road trauma.

This remarkable total reflects the power of collective effort; from individuals who donated to the Tribute Wall, to those who attended the Walk & Wheel, joined fundraising teams, made donations, and our community partners and sponsors going the extra mile to raise funds and awareness.

Matched giving momentum: Thank you, Adica Insurance

A special thanks goes to Adica Insurance, our Premium Road Safety Partner, whose matched giving campaign in the final days of June, along with an additional generous donation, helped us surpass our ambitious fundraising target. Their support helped double the impact of community contributions, showing just how far matched giving can go in making a real difference.

Run for Road Safety

Another powerful fundraising highlight came from the incredible efforts of Alex Prestney and Chris May, who coordinated and completed the Run the Bay for Road Safety.

We’re incredibly grateful to Alex and Chris, who raised $8,507.55 through their inspiring Run the Bay for Road Safety fundraiser.

Despite facing illness and injury, Alex and Chris pushed through to complete their journey along the Victorian coastline, supported by friends, family, the TAC, and the broader community. Alex, a Victoria Police officer, ran in memory of his brother, Constable Josh Prestney, while Chris – a firefighter, veteran, and SES volunteer – brought his passion for road safety and mental health to the cause.

Their efforts remind us of the power of community, resilience, and remembrance.

Rotary Clubs drive impact through the Dr John Birrell Award

Amber Community was also honoured to receive donations through the Dr John Birrell Road Safety Award, presented annually by various Rotary Clubs across Victoria.

  • The Rotary Club of Warrnambool awarded $2,500 to Amber Community on behalf of Leading Senior Constable Andrew MacMillan, recognising his dedication to road safety.
  • Bellarine North and Bayside Geelong Rotary Clubs contributed a $3,000 donation via the Run the Bay for Road Safety, championed by award recipient Michael from Geelong Highway Patrol, with heartfelt thanks shared by community fundraisers Alex Prestney and Chris May.

These donations reflect the meaningful connections between Rotary, Victoria Police, and our mission to support people affected by road trauma.

Tribute Wall, tickets and teams: Community support in action

Throughout May, we saw extraordinary generosity from individuals, with some sharing personal messages on our digital Tribute Wall. Ticket purchases for our Walk & Wheel event at Albert Park Lake, raffle sales, and community activities all contributed to the fundraising goal. We also want to give a shoutout to the amazing fundraising teams who set up their own pages, walked, wheeled, and rallied support throughout the month.

Regional reach: Greater Shepparton City Council shines bright

We’re especially grateful to the Greater Shepparton City Council, who hosted a road safety awareness event and walk at Victoria Park Lake at the conclusion of National Road Safety Week. Their involvement extended our reach regionally, raising awareness for the campaign. The council’s support for the Shine a Light on Road Safety message reinforces the power of local engagement in promoting safer roads.

Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters

This campaign would not be possible without the support of our generous sponsors, partners, and donors. Every single contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. You’ve helped ensure Amber Community can continue to provide free counselling, education, and advocacy services to people impacted by road trauma.

Together, we are lighting the way toward safer roads and stronger support for those affected by road incidents.
