Amber Community is pleased to announce the appointment of Xander Alpherts as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective mid-October 2025. Xander currently serves as Chair of the Board and brings a deep understanding of the organisation’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Xander will succeed Bernadette Nugent, who has led the organisation with strength and dedication over recent years. Bernadette will remain in the CEO role for a transition period, working until mid-October to ensure a smooth handover.
During this time, Bronwyn Saville, marketing and communications manager, will step into an executive support role to support the transition.
In preparation for his new role, Xander will step aside from his current Board responsibilities. The Board is pleased to announce that Merryn Wallace, Deputy Chair, will become Acting Chair of the Board, effective immediately.
Xander brings a wealth of experience in leadership and governance, as well as a passion for advancing the important work of Amber Community.
“It is an honour to step into the CEO role at such a pivotal time,” said Xander Alpherts.
“I have deep respect for the work of this organisation and the people who bring it to life every day. I look forward to continuing our focus on reducing the incidence and impact of road trauma, collaboration, and supporting the community.”
Amber Community thanks Bernadette for her outstanding leadership and commitment and looks forward to this next chapter of growth and continuity.
